Poetry Contest

Hello Carlisle Area School District students!

By popular demand the AMANI Festival is back! AND we want you to be part of it. We are inviting you to be a part of the AMANI Poetry Contest 2015. Amani mean “Peace” in Swahili.

The Theme for the contest is: “What does Amani "peace" mean to me?”

Winners will receive:

• First Place - $100 savings bond

• Second Place - $25 gift card

Winning poems will be printed in the AMANI Program Booklet. Students will also recite their poems on stage at The 16th AMANI Festival on May 2, 2015. The Festival will be held from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. in downtown Carlisle, PA. The Festival has grown from a mere “multicultural event” idea to a legacy in the Carlisle, PA community.

Poetry Contest Rules:

Poem must be submitted on the form below. Entries must be typed and in English. Poems will be judged in the following categories.

• 1 thru 3rd grade

• 4 thru 6th grade

• 7th thru 9th grade

• 10th thru 12th grade

Winner will be selected in each grade category listed above.

• The Theme for the contest is: “What does Amani "peace" mean to me?”

• Contest is open to all students (1st thru 12th grade)

• Entries must be the original unpublished work of the child entering the contest

• Poems will not be returned

• Only one entry per child is allowed

• Winners will read their poems on stage at the Amani Festival on Saturday, May 2.
